HOW DOES DETOXIFICATION WORK?

Basically, detoxification means cleansing the blood. This is done by removing impurities from the blood in the liver, where toxins are processed for elimination. The body also eliminates toxins through the kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymphatic system, and skin. However, when these systems are compromised, impurities aren't properly filtered and the body is adversely affected.

A detox program can help the body's natural cleansing process by:

  1. Resting the organs through fasting;

  2. Stimulating the liver to drive toxins from the body;

  3. Promoting elimination through the intestines, kidneys, and skin;

  4. Improving circulation of the blood; and

  5. Refueling the body with healthy nutrients.

"Detoxification works because it addresses the needs of individual cells, the smallest units of human life," says Peter Bennett, N.D., co-author of 7-Day Detox Miracle with Stephen Barrie, N.D., and Sara Faye.

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU NEED TO DETOXIFY?

Bennett suggests that everyone should detox at least once a year. However, Bennett cautions against detoxing for nursing mothers, children, and patients with chronic degenerative diseases, cancer or tuberculosis. Consult your healthcare practitioner if you have questions about whether detoxing is right for you.

Today, with more toxins in the environment than ever, "it's critical to detox," we recommend detoxing for symptoms such as:

  • Unexplained fatigue

  • Sluggish elimination

  • Irritated skin

  • Allergies

  • Low-grade infection

  • Puffy eyes or bags under the eyes

  • Bloating

  • Menstrual problems

  • Mental confusion

Colon Hydrotherapy FAQ's

How does the procedure work?

You will come to our office and fill out a client's health history. You will be escorted into a private room and instructed how to insert a rectal tube. You will then lie on the colonic therapy table where warm, purified water will flow through the approximately 5 feet of your large intestines for 30-45 minutes. You will release your waste and toxins on the “toilet table.” There is a clear viewing tube that runs alongside the table so that you will be able to view the waste as it is released. Soft music and candles are available if you like.

Does it hurt?

No... the session is relatively painless. You will be instructed on how to insert your own rectal tube which is about the size of a number 2 pencil. The tube is very tiny and only goes about an inch into the rectum.

Is it smelly?

There is a fan that takes the odor out of the room into the sewer. So, it is virtually odorless.

How long is a session?

The basic session lasts approximately 30- 45 minutes. However, we ask you to schedule for 1 hour and 15 minutes for your initial visit.

What do I need to do to prepare for a session?

The more hydrated you are, the better your session will be. You may want to drink plenty of water in preparation for your visit. On the day of your session, we encourage you to stop eating at least 2 hours before your appointment time and avoid any foods or drinks that cause you excess gas.

Will I be able to drive or do other activities when I finish the session?

Yes...You should not be impaired at all. 90% of our clients experience a burst of energy after a session. The other 10% feel tired and want to rest afterward but they are not impaired.

What about my bowel flora?

It is true that when you flush out toxic bowel waste, you will also remove some of the beneficial bowel flora (“good bacteria”) Therefore, we suggest that you discuss with your physician about the possibility of re-establishing good bowel flora with probiotics.

How many sessions will I need?

Since we cannot prescribe, that will be totally up to you and your physician. However, it is believed that it takes about 12 sessions to completely detox the colon. Therefore we offer favorable discounts for someone who commits to prepaying for multiple sessions.

How often can I get them?

There is no scientific data that we are aware of concerning this. We have experienced deep cleansing when scheduling colonics within 7 to 14 days. Most people will come once per week when starting a cleanse. However, it is totally up to you and your physician.

What are the benefits of colon hydrotherapy?

We are not allowed to make any claims of benefits. However, colon hydrotherapy has been indicated in cases of acute fecal impaction, constipation, colitis, diarrhea, diverticulosis, parasitic infections, prevention, bowel training, preparation surgery or diagnostic studies such as sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy.

Will I lose weight?

It is widely believed among alternative health practitioners that the average person will have up to 25 pounds of toxic waste in their colons so it is common to experience some weight loss. However, at Cleansing Waters, we like to refer to it as “waste loss.”

You should expect to lose 1 - 2 lbs depending on the frequency of bowel movements. Some clients have reported weight gain, due to bowels being re-hydrated with water.

Does my insurance pay for this?

In most cases, the answer is no. However, if you are under the care of a GI doctor who prescribes colon hydrotherapy as a part of your treatment, you may be able to be reimbursed by your insurance company. Please check with your insurance company, because we do not file insurance claims. Payment must be rendered at the time of service.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Cash, Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover, Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Saving Accounts.

Are your therapists I-ACT certified?

Yes... we are all certified with the International Association for Colon Hydrotherapy.

Is your equipment FDA cleared?

Yes, we do use FDA cleared colonic therapy tables as well as disposable rectal tubes.
